Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion Exhibition & Store
Macchiatto worked with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to redevelop the entire visitor experience at the Golden Gate Bridge. The most extensive improvement was the development of the Bridge Pavilion, a 3,500 square foot facility that weaves interpretive information with retail products for a new paradigm in visitor centers. Instead of “exiting through the gift shop” the products sit alongside historic artifacts and information. These products are not your typical tchotchke shot glasses and sweatshirts – each has a unique interpretive value. The result is a more dynamic environment, where visitors bring home a bit of history. Macchiatto assisted in architectural programming and designed the entire interior experience, including interpretive displays/graphics, retail fixtures, lighting and A/V design, as well as all exterior signage.
